Englandfahrt 2025

Unsere Englandfahrt fand vom 30. August 2025 bis zum 06. September 2025 statt.

Our stop in Rye

On our school trip to England, our first stop after the long journey was the small town of Rye. We arrived there by bus and were very excited to finally get out and explore. Rye is a very charming place with narrow streets and old houses. It felt like stepping back in time, because everything looked so traditional and peaceful. We walked through the town, looked at the shops and enjoyed the atmosphere. Some of us also went up to the Church though our time in Rye was not very long. It was a nice beginning of our trip, which gave us the chance to stretch our legs, see a bit of traditional old England, and get ready for the days ahead.

Our arrival in Hastings

Hey everyone,

after a really long bus ride, we finally arrived in Hastings. Everyone was tired but also super excited to be there. At first, we had some free time to look around and explore a bit. Then, it was time to meet our host families.

For us, things were a little chaotic at the beginning because our original host family had to cancel last minute. But it wasn’t that bad, because another family also had to be switched, so in the end, we stayed together as a group of five students. When we arrived at the new house, the family welcomed us really nicely.

They showed us around the house, and we even had our own bathroom, which was honestly amazing. Their son, Stanley, who is about ten years old, showed us everything and played table football with us. That was very funny.

In the evening, we had dinner together. They cooked chicken with vegetables – potatoes, beans and carrots for us which was actually delicious. After dinner, we played a bit more with Stanley and also with their dog, Ernie. He was super cute and friendly.

Overall, the first day was a bit stressful at the beginning, but it turned out as a nice start to our trip. Stay tuned!

Our first day in England

Our group was the first, that was picked up in the afternoon. The Foxes’, our host family, were really kind. After we arrived, they showed us their home and their family members. We also got to know their dog, who’s blind but cute, and their lovely but really fat cat.

Next, we unpacked all our stuff and talked about the long journey to England. For dinner there was handmade lasagna with backed potatoes and garlic bread. It was really delicious. Nevertheless, we didn’t eat too much, because we had eaten enough on the bus.

We were so tired, that’s why we directly went to bed after showering. - Great first day in England, looking forward to the next day.

Our First Dinner with the Host Family

Today we had our first dinner with our host family. It turned out to be a friendly and memorable evening.

The meal was simple but absolutely delicious. We got a big plate of Spaghetti Bolognese. As a side dish we got freshly baked garlic bread. We connected well with our host family and even the six-year-old son asked questions like he never had never done before.

Afterwards, we enjoyed a healthy dessert: slices of juicy watermelon. It was the perfect ending of the meal.

What made the evening truly unforgettable, was not just the food but the atmosphere. The family welcomed us with open arms. They asked us questions about our home, our journey, and our vacations before. We felt immediately comfortable. Their hospitality made us feel like we are really welcoming.

When we left the table, we came back with our small presents for them. They really showed joy about the small things and were so grateful. Even the gifts for the two kittens (one was actually for a dog, because of a family switch) were tested after a few minutes. We really enjoyed it and are happy to have such a good family

Thank you very much for reading and have a nice day !!!

Trip to Canterbury

On our second day in England we went to Canterbury. Our first stop was Canterbury Cathedral, the “heaven on earth” for the Anglican Church.

First, we had no tour guide, because something went not as planned. Spontaneously a woman, originally from France, jumped in and showed us around the cathedral. She told us about the history of this building, its architecture, and how the appearance changed over the time. We also learned something about Thomas Becket. He was the archbishop of Canterbury and also Chancellor of England in the 12th century.

After all we have to say, that this is a great place, where you can learn very much about the history of England, the Anglican Church, the architecture of the cathedral, and what life in a cloister was like.

Welcome to London

Today is a very special day for us, because it is the first time we are traveling without our teachers in the third largest city in Europe: London. Like every day, we were picked up at our meeting point and took the bus for two hours to London. We were dropped off at the O2 Arena and then we took the subway into the city in groups of at least three. We were four persons and we wanted to do some sightseeing. We got off at London Bridge. From there we started walking.

Our first stop was “The Shard“, a huge skyscraper. Unfortunately, it was closed today but we enjoyed the view of the city and Big Ben later from the London Eye. Then we continued on to “Tower Bridge“, which was even open and the “Tower of London“. Afterwards we walked to Buckingham Palace where two soldiers were standing guard.

Time was running out, as we had to plan for a one-hour return journey by subway. So after buying some souvenirs it was time to say goodbye to London and we hope to come back soon to this fantastic capital with its impressive history and culture.

Trip to Brighton

Today was a really exciting day. We were in Brighton and our first stop was the Royal Pavilion. From the outside the building already looked pretty unusual, but inside it was even more impressive. Everything was so fancy and majestic that it almost felt like stepping into another world.

After that we still had about an hour of free time. Originally, we wanted to complete the quiz sheet but the weather didn’t cooperate. It was raining a lot and standing outside for too long just wasn’t an option. So we decided to do something else instead and looked for some food. We ended up in an Italian restaurant and honestly, that was a great choice. We had really delicious pizza (you can also see that in the picture) plus some salad and other things. Everything tasted amazing and it was the perfect way to finish our little trip.

Second Trip to London “Mamma Mia!“ at the theatre

Hey guys, one of the best evenings we had in London was on Thursday when we went to see the “Mamma Mia!” musical in London. First, we crossed the Thames by an uber boat from Greenwich where we had about 2 hours free time to explore Greenwich Market and Greenwich Park. The boat trip across the water provided us with very a cool view of most of London’s most spectacular sights. It was amazing.

“Mama Mia” is a name that the ABBA scene already knows, but some of our classmates don’t. That was about to change, because our program included a visit to this musical. The musical was being performed at the Novello Theatre. The building looked like something out of an 80s movie in the USA. Inside, it reminded us more of an opera house, with several floors and a beautiful decorated dome.

The musical itself was amazing. The actors fit their roles perfectly, and even though we knew the story from the movie, it was still fun to see it live. They added a few songs to the original version and the design on the stage changed in creative ways.

Can‘t wait to share our next adventure with you!

Fridays Tea Party

On the day of our departure from Hastings we had a scheduled Tea Party, where we could get to know the British culture better. To be fair, I had relatively low expectations for it, because I thought that the main part in a Tea Party is dressing up and none of us planned to do it. The event itself was simple and sweet, at first, we chose the flavour of the tea and then, we had some little buns with jam & cream with the tea itself. Personally, my favourite part of the party were the cute hats.

Wishing the best ! Our goodbye to the our hostfamily…

Saying goodbye to our host family in Hastings was a mix of happy and sad feelings. The night before we left, we hugged each other and said thank you to our host mom because the next day she had to leave early for work. It was fun because we remembered all the moments we had shared together.

The following morning, our host dad drove us to the meeting point where we met our school group. On the way, we talked about the wonderful memories we’ve made. And about our hometown.

When we arrived at the bus, we said our final goodbyes with another warm hug. It was hard to leave, but we felt so grateful to have such a caring family.

We will always remember our fantastic time in Hastings!

Thank y’all very much!
